Rick has over 30 years of experience in civil engineering, and over 20 at Woodson.  His experience includes engineering services for complex residential, commercial, industrial and public improvement projects. Major responsibilities include management of engineering projects, client contact, proposals, contract negotiation, government approvals, presentations, design development and construction documents, including specifications.  He often represents Woodson at agency hearings, government staff meetings, client project review meetings and public meetings.  Rick’s experience includes infrastructure design, storm water management plans, hydrologic investigations, construction cost estimates and construction management services.

Project Experience

Timber Sky Development, Flagstaff – Rick is the Project Manager and Woodson is the prime engineering firm on this 200-acre 1,300-unit development in Flagstaff. We have managed all aspects of the City of Flagstaff approval process for the client beginning with a Development Assessment Report as part of the planning process. Our Infrastructure Plan included Water and Sewer System Analysis and Design, Drainage Report, and Stormwater Management. We have prepared construction documents as well as construction estimates for the purpose of establishing budgets and sureties for the proposed improvements.

Village at Aspen Place, Flagstaff – We provided engineering and surveying for 33,000 SF of retail, four stories of 222 residential units and a five story parking garage. We designed the sewer and water utilities, and the stormwater conveyances. Also provided construction staking services and post-design engineering services, construction administration and closeout certifications.

Trails End, Flagstaff –  This is a 30-unit single-family residential subdivision on 5.51 acres. We provided surveying, planning and engineering services in accordance with City of Flagstaff requirements. We took the project through Conceptual Plat Approval, Preliminary Plat Approval, and Final Plat Approval including preparation of all submittals for this development to pass through the City subdivision process.  Our work included preparation of Resource Plans as well as LID Development Design services. We prepared construction plans and will also provide construction services as the project nears this phase. 

The Bluffs Senior Living Development, Flagstaff – The Bluffs is a senior living community, on Butler Avenue in Flagstaff. Rick was the PM and provided civil engineering for this 210,572-sf facility on 10 acres which will include 120 independent living and 66 assisted living units, and 18 memory care apartments. We provided Topographic Survey and Resource survey, an ALTA Survey, Traffic Impact Analysis Coordination, Sewer and Water Impact Analysis, Concept Plan preparation and application submittal, Site Plan preparation and submittal and Construction Plans, and post-design services.
