Woodson did the survey and design for the Copeland Regional Detention Basin project for the Coconino County Flood Control District. We designed two detention basins and three sedimentation basins on an 80-acre parcel on US 89, north of Flagstaff. These improvements were required to protect US 89 from overtopping and to regulate the flows that initiate within the Schultz Fire burn area. The project involved extensive coordination with the Federal Highway Administration, ADOT, Coconino County, local residents, and other stakeholders in the area. Woodson provided cost split negotiating services with FHWA for the County. The Woodson team also coordinated with utility companies to identify the conflicts and relocations and prepared a Utility Clearance Letter which was very crucial in obtaining federal funds for the project.
Courtyard by Marriott
We designed the first large-scale commercial water harvesting project in Flagstaff at the Courtyard by Marriott. The water harvesting used a below-grade storm run-off detention system and tied the storage tanks to the irrigation system.
